wireshark without root privileges on osx

enable your root account in the Directory Utility unter the Utilitys in Applications:

then enable it:

In order to capture packets with wireshark, you must have read access to the BPF devices in /dev/bpf*.

so open the terminal, login as root and type:

chmod o+r /dev/bpf*

/Library/Application Support/VMware Fusion/boot.ini

search for en0 and comment out the line:

"$LIBDIR/vmnet-bridge" -d /var/run/vmnet-bridge-vmnet0.pid vmnet0 ''

replace the ” at the end with your interface name like en0 for ethernet or en1 for the wireless adapter
